Leaving Vienna, I finished the second segment of my Danube cycling tour in Budapest. The route was somewhat less scenic than the first part to Vienna , but did have the added interest of cycling in 98+ degrees in the blazing sun. I could have just flown to Houston and cycled there at less trouble and expense.
I spent most of my time looking for water as I drank about a gallon every hour. Perhaps you have heard that the Danube is experiencing a serious drought and is at record lows?
Some of that is undoubtedly because I drank up half the river from wells beside it. All 4 days were scorchers but I was generally comforted by the fact that I only had 60-70 miles to go each day. Patience is an overrated virtue.
In any case, Hungary did have some interesting towns and sites along the way-
While the Danube was not always in view- say 2 I hardly saw it- my cycling took me over quite a few bridges-
And finally landed me- after a total of about 480 miles from Passau- in Budapest-
